Advantages of Sugaring Over Waxing
Waxing and Sugaring are closely related methods of hair removal. Both are hair removal methods that have been used by millions of women (and men) over centuries. In parts of the world like the Middle East and Asia, sugaring has been in use for thousands of years.
Sugaring
Sugaring involves making a paste or gum from sugar, water, and lemon juice which is then applied to the hair to be removed. A major advantage of sugaring for those planning to do everything themselves is that the ingredients and equipment are cheap, environmentally friendly and universally available. Because of the similarities to regular waxing the sugaring method is often referred to as sugar waxing, although as indicated above it does not include wax.
Sugar wax sticks strongly to hair but unlike regular wax it does not stick to the skin. Women who have tested both methods at the same time report that the sugaring method is the less painful of the two. There is less problem with tender skin and soreness than waxing so it’s great for people with sensitive skin.
A cloth soaked in warm water is all that is required to clean up after sugaring. It doesn't get any easier. Any leftovers can be stored for next time or eaten if you have a sweet tooth! Usage aside, it is simply a form of sugar candy.
Waxing
Waxing hair removal involves applying a warm wax mixture to the unwanted hair to be removed. Hair removal wax is usually available from various retail stores for about twenty to thirty dollars. Some stores sell it as a complete kit including accessories.
The method of applying the wax and then removing unwanted hair is identical to sugaring. Tender skin, red marks and bumps result from the wax adhering to both skin and hair and create more potential for pain when the wax is removed.
Wax not being water soluble makes it somewhat more difficult to clean up.
Both Methods
Both methods are similar in that they remove hair by the root which means that the results are also similar. The regrowth being softer and silkier and less of it. This avoids problems like cuts, nicks, coarse stubble or ingrown hair caused by shaving.
Waxing and sugaring are simple hair remover processes that anyone can perform in the privacy of their home but there are beauty salons that also provide these services.
