hair removal wax wont freeze, use water or rubbing alcohol (hope you have a light coloured carpet) but water should help.
Take a brown paper bag and open it up to one thickness. Lay it over the wax. Take a hot iron and iron the bag over the wax. The wax will be absorbed by the paper bag. Works well with candle wax too.
Freeze it with dry ice, then remove it. It may take a few tries if there is a lot of it
Use a product called "Goof-Off". It's great for all kinds of problems messes. I've evened removed old dried latex paint from carpet and clothes. Worked on gum embedded in carpet. Then just use a carpet spot cleaner like Resolve to clean the oily residue. (Spot test the Goof-Off in an inconspicuous spot first)
